Harbour Plaza
A two-tower residential development in downtown Toronto, Harbour Plaza relies on Ventex and Alumavent products for its intake, exhaust, and pressure-control systems.
Overview
Harbour Plaza is a landmark two-tower residential development rising prominently along Toronto’s waterfront. Designed by architects Alliance in association with Sweeny & Co Architects, the project is defined by clean contemporary lines and expansive views toward Toronto Harbour and the CN Tower.
At the crown of each tower, the mechanical penthouses, located at Level 72 in the east tower and Level 68 in the west tower, are fully enclosed in custom architectural louver systems supplied by Ventex. These louvered crowns are not treated as secondary service elements. Instead, they form a deliberate architectural termination to the towers, integrating ventilation requirements into a cohesive skyline profile.

Working with architectsAlliance, Sweeny & Co Architects, mechanical consultant The Hidi Group, exterior cladding contractor Titan Metals, and Menkes Developments as general contractor, Ventex coordinated airflow requirements, structural support framing, and attachment strategies specific to the penthouse enclosures.
Collaboration focused on:
- Designing custom architectural louvers to fully clad high-elevation mechanical penthouses
- Coordinating support steel and attachment details within the penthouse structures
- Ensuring required free area and airflow performance at extreme wind exposure conditions
- Supporting fabrication and installation sequencing at Levels 68 and 72
Detailed stamped shop drawings and ongoing technical coordination helped ensure the finished crowns achieved reliable mechanical performance while maintaining the clean, unified architectural expression envisioned by the design team.

Ventex louver systems define the mechanical crowns of Harbour Plaza, transforming essential ventilation infrastructure into a cohesive architectural feature. By integrating custom-engineered louvers into the penthouse enclosures at significant height, the project achieves dependable airflow performance while delivering a refined skyline presence that complements Toronto’s waterfront profile.
